Field Safeguard System Control Equipment Package

Description:

Field elements that control safeguard systems such as blast shields and tunnel exhaust systems that are used to mitigate the impact of incidents on transportation infrastructure.

TxDOT Yoakum District Security Equipment

Functional Requirements:

1The field element shall activate safeguard systems, equipment used to mitigate the impact of incidents on transportation infrastructure (e.g., blast shields, tunnel exhaust systems, etc.) under center control.
2The field element shall return safeguard system operational status to the controlling center.
3The field element shall return safeguard system fault data to the maintenance center for repair.

5.0EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
5.1EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION AND PERSONAL SECURITY
5.1.3ENPS shall include a Remote Security and Emergency Monitoring (RSEM) function to create an environment of safety in secure areas.
5.1.3.5RSEM shall include a Physical Security System (PSS) function.
5.1.3.5.1PSS shall include systems such as:
5.1.3.5.1(b)blast shielding, exhaust systems and other automatic or remotely controlled systems intended to mitigate the impact of an incident.
5.1.3.5.2PSS shall allow system operators to monitor and control operation of the physical security system devices, including operator override.
5.1.3.5.3PSS shall provide current status of the system including readiness and activation to operators.
5.1.3.5.4PSS shall warn travelers of impending security system deployment via local information systems.
