Stakeholders

The Waco Regional ITS Architecture represents the consensus input of a diverse set of stakeholders, encompassing traffic, transit, public safety, and many other operating agencies at local, county, state, and national levels.  It includes both public and private sectors and spans the organizations that manage, support, or are impacted by the surface transportation system in the Waco Region.

Bell County Represents the overall county government and miscellaneous departments.
City of Killeen Represents overall city government and miscellaneous departments.
City of Temple Represents overall city government and miscellaneous departments.
City of Waco Represents overall city government and miscellaneous departments.
Commercial Vehicle Operators Private commercial vehicle operators
Correctional Facilities Federal, State and County correctional facilities
County Emergency Management Agencies Coordination of mitigation and response for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies
County Road and Bridge County agency responsible for maintaining county roads and bridges in the region
DPS Texas Department of Public Safety
DPS Division of Emergency Management DPS division responsible for mitigation and response for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies.
East Texas Medical Center Regional medical center, headquartered in Tyler, Texas.
Financial Institution Banks involved in the transfer of funds for toll and fare collection as well as for other fee based transportation services.
Hill Country Transit District Regional public transportation provider for the Central Texas area, operating both fixed route and paratransit public transportation service in the Killeen-Copperas Cove-Harker Heights-Nolanville-Fort Hood urban area and in the Temple-Belton urban area. Rural public transportation is provided through a demand response system in the smaller communities within the 9 county transit district.
HOTCOG Heartland of Texas Council of Governments. Organization of local governments working together voluntarily to solve mutual problems and plan for the future of the six county area, which includes Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Limestone and McLennan counties.
Independent School Districts Includes public schools throughout the Waco Region.
Killeen Traffic Services Department responsible for the overall management and control of vehicular and pedestrian traffic control within the City of Killeen.
K-TUTS MPO Metropolitan Planning Organization responsible for long term planning in the Killeen-Temple Urban Transportation Study area.
Local Media Includes both print (newspaper) and broadcast (TV, radio) news media.
Municipal Convention and Visitors Bureau Organization responsible for event information in the City of Waco and surrounding region.
Municipal or County Government County or local city/town/village offices and departments.
Municipal or County Public Safety Local city or county agencies responsible for emergency coordination.
Municipal Public Works Department Local city department responsible for street maintenance.
NOAA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (National Weather Service).
Private Ambulance Private ambulance companies in the region.
Private Information Service Providers Local, regional and national information service providers that provide travel information, including local media (print, TV and radio), Internet sites, service bureaus, etc
Private Maintenance Contractor Private contractors providing maintenance functions.
Private Taxi Providers Private companies providing taxi service.
Private Tow/Wrecker Providers Private towing companies
Private Transit Providers Represents other transit providers, including transit systems outside the Waco region and intercity bus carriers, including Greyhound.
Private Travelers Traveling public accessing various modes of transportation, including surface street, air, rail/transit, and non-motorized.
Rail Operators Operators of private rail systems (e.g. Kansas City Southern), including passenger and freight.
Regional Airport Operators Regional Airport Operators.
Regional Emergency and Public Safety Agencies Provide response for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies.
Regional Medical Center Hospital/trauma centers in the region.
State of Texas State government agencies and departments.
Temple Traffic Services Department responsible for the overall management and control of vehicular and pedestrian traffic control within the City of Temple.

Texas Excavation Safety System Non-profit corporation formed by member companies to prevent damage to underground facilities.

Utility Companies Represents utility companies, including companies that have underground facilities such as conduits, ducts, and pipelines.
Waco Fire Department Provides fire and rescue services to the City of Waco.
Waco MPO Metropolitan Planning Organization responsible for coordinating regional transportation planning and the use of federal transportation funds among the counties and cities within the Waco Urban Transportation Study area.
Waco Police Department Law enforcement provider for the City of Waco.
Waco Traffic Services Department responsible for the overall management and control of vehicular and pedestrian traffic control within the City of Waco.
Waco Transit Provides fixed route bus service within the City of Waco, the Baylor University Shuttle, and van service for individuals with disabilties.
Waco-McLennan County Emergency Management Responsible for the coordination of mitigation and response for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies in McLennan County, which includes the City of Waco.
