Stakeholders

The Tyler Regional ITS Architecture represents the consensus input of a diverse set of stakeholders, encompassing traffic, transit, public safety, and many other operating agencies at local, county, state, and national levels.  It includes both public and private sectors and spans the organizations that manage, support, or are impacted by the surface transportation system in the Tyler Region. 

Stakeholder Description
City of Longview Fire Dept. Provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services to the City of Longview.
City of Longview Police Department Law enforcement provider for the City of Longview.
City of Longview PWD Public Works Department for the City of Longview. Responsible for road and equipment maintenance on city streets.
City of Longview Transit System (COLT) Demand based transit system for those 60 years of age and older or those with a disability.
City of Tyler Fire Department Provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services to the City of Tyler.
City of Tyler Police Department Law enforcement provider for the City of Tyler.
City of Tyler Traffic Engineering Dept. City department responsible for maintenance of the signal system and other traffic related transportation duties.
City of Tyler Transit Operates fixed route service as well as paratransit service within the City of Tyler.
Commercial Vehicle Operators Private commercial vehicle operators
Community Air Quality Public Information Office Office responsible for the dissemination of air quality information.
Community Convention and Visitors Bureau Organization responsible for event information in the city of Tyler and surrounding region.
County Emergency Management Agencies Coordination of mitigation and response for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies
County Road and Bridge County agency responsible for maintaining county roads and bridges in the Tyler Region

DPS Division of Emergency Management DPS division responsible for mitigation and response for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies.
DPS Local Emergency Planning Committee Organization involved in response planning for emergencies involving hazardous materials.
East Texas 911 Organization responsible for Emergency Call taking and Public Safety dispatch in city of Tyler and Smith County.
East Texas Medical Center Hospital/trauma center in the Region
ETCOG East Texas Council of Governments
Financial Institution Banks involved in the transfer of funds for toll and fare collection as well as for other fee based transportation services.
Independent School Districts Includes public schools throughout the Tyler Region.
Local Media Includes both print (newspaper) and broadcast (TV, radio) news media.
Longview MPO Metropolitan Planning Organization responsible for long term planning in the Longview area.
Municipal or County Government County or local city/town/village offices and departments.
Municipal or County Public Safety Local city or county agencies responsible for emergency coordination.
Municipal Public Works Department Local city department responsible for street maintenance.
Municipal Traffic Department Local city departments responsible for traffic signal system operations.
NOAA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (National Weather Service).
Other States Departments of Transportation Department of Transportation for neighboring states such as Louisiana.
Private Information Service Providers Local, regional and national information service providers that provide travel information, including local media (print, TV and radio), Internet sites, service bureaus, etc

Private Tow/Wrecker Providers Private towing companies
Private Travelers Traveling public accessing various modes of transportation, including surface street, air, rail/transit, and non-motorized.
Private Weather Service Provider Private companies that provide tailored surface weather conditions information.
Rail Operators Operators of private rail systems, including passenger and freight.
Regional Airports Tyler Pounds Regional Airport and East Texas Regional Airport
Regional Emergency and Public Safety Agencices Provide response for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies.
