Stakeholders

The Lufkin Regional ITS Architecture represents the consensus input of a diverse set of stakeholders, encompassing traffic, transit, public safety, and many other operating agencies at local, county, state, and national levels.  It includes both public and private sectors and spans the organizations that manage, support, or are impacted by the surface transportation system in the Lufkin Region. 

Stakeholder Description
Angelina Neches River Authority The river authority that governs the Angelina and Neches rivers.
Army Corps of Engineers The Army Corps of Engineers who is responsible for the bridges, causeways, etc.. that are within the Lufkin region.
BTD - Brazos Transit District General public transportation provider, also known as The District. Operates Fixed Routes, Paratransit Service, Park & Rides, Shuttle Services, and a Park & Pool lot. Currently offers service in the following counties. Angelina, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Polk, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, and Washington.
City of Livingston Represents the departments for the City of Livingston, including the public works department.
City of Livingston Public Safety Departments Law enforcement, fire and rescue, and EMS providers for the City of Livingston.
City of Lufkin Represents the departments for the City of Lufkin, including the public works department.
City of Lufkin Public Safety Departments Law enforcement, fire and rescue, and EMS providers for the City of Lufkin.
City of Nacogdoches Represents the departments for the City of Nacogdoches, including the public works department.
City of Nacogdoches Public Safety Departments The dispatch and PSAP point for all emergency services (fire, police, and EMS) within the City of Nacogdoches.
Commercial Vehicle Operators Private commercial vehicle operators within the study region.
County Emergency Management Agencies Agencies responsible for the coordination of mitigation and responses for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies
County Road and Bridge County agencies responsible for maintaining county roads and bridges in the Lufkin Region. These counties include Angelina, Houston, Nacogdoches, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, and Trinity.
County Sheriff County law enforcement for the counties in the Lufkin region.
DETCOG Deep East Texas Council of Governments. Includes the counties of Angelina, Houston, Jasper, Nacogdoches, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, and Tyler.
DPS Texas Department of Public Safety
DPS Division of Emergency Management DPS division responsible for mitigation and response for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies.
Financial Institution Banks involved in the transfer of funds for toll and fare collection as well as for other fee based transportation services.
Independent School Districts Includes public schools throughout the Lufkin Region.
LA DPS Louisiana Department of Public Safety
LADOTD Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Districts
Local Media Includes both print (newspaper) and broadcast (TV, radio) news media.
Local Transit Agencies Local transit agencies (public or private) that service the Lufkin region not explicitly called out in this architecture.
Lower Neches Valley Authority Lower Neches Valley Authority - Authority responsible for developing and managing a system which will meet the present and long term freshwater needs of municipal, agricultural and industrial consumers, to protect its quality, to insure its affordability, and to establish conditions which will enhance economic development throughout its jurisdiction.
Municipal Convention and Visitors Bureau Organization responsible for event information in the City of Lufkin and surrounding region.
Municipal or County Government County or local city/town/village offices and departments within the Lufkin region (including the public works/maintenance department). These counties include Angelina, Houston, Nacogdoches, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, and Trinity.
Municipal or County Public Safety Local city or county agencies responsible for emergency coordination within the Lufkin region. These include the counties of Angelina, Houston, Nacogdoches, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, and Trinity.
National Forest Service Federal agency that manages public lands in national forests and grasslands
NOAA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (National Weather Service).
Private Ambulance Private ambulance providers within the region.
Private Hazmat Carriers Private carriers of Hazmat materials through the region,
Private Information Service Providers Local, regional and national information service providers that provide travel information, including local media (print, TV and radio), Internet sites, service bureaus, etc
Private Long-Distance Bus Company Dispatch Private providers of transit services including scheduled route-line transportation, deluxe motor coach charters and shuttles, customized group tour packages, quality escorted tours, and convention coordination and planning for the Lufkin region.
Private Shuttle Providers Private shuttle/transit companies within the region.
Private Taxi Providers Private companies providing taxi service.
Private Tow/Wrecker Providers Private towing companies
Private Travelers Traveling public accessing various modes of transportation, including surface street, air, rail/transit, and non-motorized.
Rail Operators Operators of private rail systems (e.g. Union Pacific, Angelina/Nacogdoches Shortline), including passenger and freight.
Regional Airports Southeast Texas Regional Airport and all other airports within the region.
Regional Medical Center Hospital/trauma centers in the region.
Regulatory Agencies Public agencies that regulate water quality within the region.
Sabine River Authority of Texas The Authority was created as a conservation and reclamation district with responsibilities to control, store, preserve, and distribute the waters of the Sabine River and its tributary system for useful purposes.
Stephen F. Austin State University State University located in Nacogdoches, TX.
Trinity River Authority The Authority was created as a conservation and reclamation district with responsibilities to control, store, preserve, and distribute the waters of the Trinity River and its tributary system for useful purposes.
TxDOT Texas Department of Transportation
USGS US Geological Survey - federal agency responsible for the country's natural and living resources, natural hazards, and the environment.
Volunteer Fire Departments Volunteer fire departments that operate within the region.
