Stakeholders

The Brazos Valley Regional ITS Architecture represents the consensus input of a diverse set of stakeholders, encompassing traffic, transit, public safety, and many other operating agencies at local, county, state, and national levels.  It includes both public and private sectors and spans the organizations that manage, support, or are impacted by the surface transportation system in the Brazos Valley Region. 

Stakeholder Description
BCSMPO Bryan/College Station Metropolitan Planning Organization. Coordinates regional transportation planning and the use of federal transportation funds among the state, county and cities within the metropolitan planning area.
Blinn College Police Department Law enforcement and security provider for Blinn College.
Brazos County 911 Dispatches emergency services for Brazos County and the City of Bryan.
Brazos Transit General public transportation provider for Brazos Valley. Operates fixed route service, paratransit service, park & ride services, shuttle services and park & pool lots.
Brazos Valley COG Brazos Valley Council of Governments. Includes Brazos County,
Bryan College Station Convention and Visitors Bureau Organization responsible for event information in the surrounding region.
City of Bryan Stakeholder for emergency management and public safety.
City of Bryan Fire Department Provides fire, search and rescue services to the City of Bryan and Brazos County.
City of Bryan Police Department Law enforcement provider for the City of Bryan.
City of Bryan Public Services Department Department responsible for the overall traffic management, and street maintenance and construction within the City of Bryan.
City of College Station Stakeholder for emergency management and public safety.
City of College Station Fire Department Provides fire and rescue services to the City of College Station.
City of College Station Police Department Law enforcement provider for the City of College Station.
City of College Station Public Works City department responsible for street maintenance.
College Station Office of Emergency Management The Office is responsible for coordinating planning efforts with outside agencies and with other City departments. The Office provides limited response capabilities for emergencies and disaster situations.

County Department of Emergency Management Charged with the development of emergency plans and conducts training and exercises. State statutes designate the County Judge and the respective Mayors as responsible for the Emergency Management Program for their jurisdictions. In this role, they are designated the Emergency Management Director. They, in turn, appoint Emergency Management Coordinators to carry out the daily duties associated with emergency management. This includes planning and conducting exercises, which will prepare the emergency response agencies adequately to deal with the emergencies most likely to occur.
County Road and Bridge Department County agency responsible for maintaining county roads and bridges in the county.
DPS Texas Department of Public Safety
DPS Division of Emergency Management DPS division responsible for mitigation and response for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies.
Driver Generic Driver
Easterwood Airport Local airport owned and operated by Texas A&M University.
Financial Institution Banks involved in the transfer of funds for toll and fare collection as well as for other fee based transportation services.
Independent School Districts Includes public schools throughout Bryan, College Station, Brazos County and the Brazos Valley region.
Intercity Bus Operators Companies providing bus services between Brazos Valley and other cities and towns, such as Greyhound.
Local Media Includes both print (newspaper) and broadcast (TV, radio) news media.
MPO Archive Users Users of the MPO archival database systems.
Municipal or County Government County or local city/town/village offices and departments.
Municipal or County Public Safety Local city or county agencies responsible for emergency coordination.
Municipal Public Works Department Local city department responsible for street maintenance.
NOAA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (National Weather Service).
Passenger Rail Inter-city passenger train service.
Private Ambulance Private ambulance companies in the region.
Private Information Service Providers Local, regional and national information service providers that provide travel information, including local media (print, TV and radio), Internet sites, service bureaus, etc
Private Taxi Providers Private companies providing taxi service.
Private Tow/Wrecker Providers Private towing companies
Private Travelers Traveling public accessing various modes of transportation, including surface street, air, rail/transit, and non-motorized.
Rail Operators Operators of private rail systems (e.g. Kansas City Southern), including passenger and freight.
Regional Medical Center Hospital/trauma centers in the region.
Regional Mobility Toll Road Authority Future toll road operating authority.
Regional Parking Operators Includes future private or public parking operators in the region.
Sam Houston State University Sam Houston State University
Sam Houston State University Police Law enforcement and security provider for SHSU campus. Also provides parking management services for the university.
State of Texas State government agencies and departments.
Texas AM University Texas A&M University (TAMU) located in College Station
Texas AM University Transportation Services This transit system provides transit services to TAMU and community, including fleet rental, traffic control and enforcement, and bus service, both on and off campus. Services extend to the cities of College Station and Bryan.
Texas Education Agency State agency. Collects ridership data for the independent school districts in the State of Texas.
Texas Transportation Institute Research agency at Texas A&M University, for the TxDOT and Texas Railroad Commission.
