Consensus Systems Technologies (ConSysTec) - Transit Projects
ConSysTec has an extensive practice in planning and designing Transit Information Systems and technologies for planning, operations, and real-time applications deployed at transit agencies. Furthermore, we have significant experience supporting regional transit consortia in all aspects of planning for, assembling heterogeneous data sets, designing and deploying transit traveler information services such as trip planning and real-time arrival prediction. We have developed concepts of operations for these ITS applications for WMATA in Washington, DC and also for a consortium of 27 transit agencies in the New York City metropolitan area. We are assisting in these types of systems in the San Francisco Bay and in the Portland, Oregon regions.
Example transit projects that ConSysTec staff have led include:
Transit Schedule Data Exchange Architecture (TDSEA) - This project involves developing a statewide framework for exchanging Transit Schedule Data in New York State. The statewide framework will support integration of transit service and operational information with multi-modal and interagency ITS business processes. The framework will be demonstrated for scheduling data. Additionally, in demonstrating this application in the Metropolitan Transportation Commuter District, NYSDOT may extend it to transit agencies throughout the state. The project scope incorporates tasks to evaluate and disseminate lessons learned in developing and testing the framework.
- King County Metro Transit Speed and Reliability - The project team identified strategic and tactical planning requirements for the current Transit Signal Priority program. The project Concept of Operations incorporated the use of wireless technologies, emerging NTCIP standards such as Signal Control and Priority and Traffic Controllers, as well as TCIP Transit Signal Priority requirements. Applicable emerging IT and ITS standards and technology alternatives were reviewed and presented.
- Dynamic Timetable Generator - In this TRB Transit IDEA Project we developed a tool to support transit agencies and regional transportation organizations dynamically generate timetables thereby eliminating much of the manual effort that goes into publishing web versions of their timetable. The tool applies TCIP and XML/XSLT standards to generate transit schedules to a web site using the most up to date trip information available. The public sector project participants include TriMet, RTA Chicago, and New York State DOT Passenger Transport Division.
