Regional ITS Architecture Home Page
The NOACA Regional ITS Architecture is a roadmap for transportation systems integration in the 5 county (Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina) NOACA region over the next 15 years. The architecture was developed through a cooperative effort by the region's transportation agencies, covering all modes and all roads in the region.
This website contains the second update of the NOACA Regional ITS Architecture. The first version of the architecture was developed in October 2000, and the update was completed in 2003. This update is a result of thorough and extensive stakeholder input gathered through a series of stakeholder interviews with additional stakeholder input collected during an architecture workshop on September 23, 2009 and a confirmation workshop on November 12, 2009. This architecture update documents how the region envisions that each agency's systems will work together in the future and how sharing of information and resources will help provide a safer, more efficient, and more effective transportation system for travelers in the region.
The architecture is an important new tool that will be used by:
- Planning agencies to incorporate integration opportunities and operational needs into the transportation planning process;
- Operating and implementing agencies to recognize and implement transportation integration opportunities in the Region; and
- Other organizations and individuals that use the transportation system in the Region.
The architecture provides an overarching framework that spans all of these organizations and individual transportation projects. Using the architecture, each transportation project can be viewed as an element of the overall transportation system, providing visibility into the relationship between individual transportation projects and ways to cost-effectively build an integrated transportation system over time.
About this Web Site
The purpose of this regional ITS architecture web site is to organize the details of the architecture into a form that is more readily accessible to stakeholders. It will provide a method for stakeholders to access the architecture information in order to encourage use of the NOACA Regional ITS Architecture in both transportation planning and project implementation. In addition, this website will be useful in gathering stakeholder feedback. The menu bar at the left provides access to the stakeholders, the transportation systems in the region (the "Inventory"), the transportation services that will be provided, transportation-related ITS functions that have been selected for the Region, and the existing and planned interfaces in the Region.
The majority of this web site was generated directly from a Turbo Architecture database that documents the architecture for the NOACA Region. The source database in Microsoft Access format can be found here.
