Statewide ITS Architecture Home Page
The New Mexico Statewide ITS Architecture is a tool for ITS project planning and development within the State over the next 15 years. The architecture was developed through a cooperative effort by the State's transportation agencies, covering all modes and all roads in the region.
This website is an update of the New Mexico Statewide ITS Architecture, which was first developed in 2006. This update is a result of extensive stakeholder input gathered through a series of stakeholder interviews and from additional stakeholder input collected during an architecture workshop on July 9, 2012. This architecture will guide transportation agencies in the State of New Mexico in planning how each agency's ITS systems will work together with other agencies in the future and how sharing of information and resources will help provide a safer, more efficient, and more effective transportation system for travelers in the State.
The architecture is an important new tool that will be used by:
- Planning agencies to incorporate integration opportunities and operational needs into the transportation planning process;
- Operating and implementing agencies to recognize and implement transportation integration opportunities in the State; and
- Other organizations and individuals that use the transportation system in the State.
The architecture provides an overarching framework that spans all of these organizations and individual transportation projects. Using the architecture, each transportation project can be viewed as an element of the overall transportation system, providing visibility into the relationship between individual transportation projects and ways to cost-effectively build an integrated transportation system over time.
About this Web Site
The purpose of this ITS architecture web site is to organize the details of the architecture into a form that is more readily accessible to stakeholders. It provides a method for stakeholders to access the architecture information in order to encourage use of the New Mexico Statewide ITS Architecture in both transportation planning and project implementation. In addition, this website will be useful in gathering stakeholder feedback. The menu bar at the left provides access to the stakeholders, the transportation systems in the State (the "Inventory"), the transportation services that will be provided, transportation-related ITS functions that have been selected for the State, and the existing and planned interfaces in the State.
The majority of this web site was generated directly from a Turbo Architecture database which defines the architecture for New Mexico. This source database in Microsoft Access format is available for download here.
