Functional Areas
- The center shall provide the capability to request special traffic control measures, such as signal preemption, from the traffic management center to facilitate emergency vehicle progress along the suggested route.
- The emergency vehicle shall send requests to traffic signal control equipment at the roadside to preempt the signal.
- The field element shall respond to signal preemption requests from emergency vehicles.
- The center shall remotely control traffic signal controllers.
