Operational Concepts: Bernalillo County Public Safety


The following are the roles and responsibilities, by functional area or by project, for Bernalillo County Public Safety.

Bernalillo County Interconnect to City of ABQ Roles and Responsibilities

Perform incident detection and verification for the streets within the county, and provide this information to the regional TMCs. Planned

Emergency Management

Provide evacuation, incident, and transportation system status information to regional public information systems. Planned
Aide in the coordination of region wide emergency plans, evacuation and reentry plans, and disaster management plans. Planned
Receive early warning information and threat information from the statewide EOC and/or the department of homeland security. Planned
Operate the County EOC. Planned
Receive Wide Area Alert information from the Statewide EOC and the Regional EOCs. Planned
Receive Amber Alert and other Wide Area Alert information from state police. Planned
Perform incident detection and verification for streets within the counties of the Region. Planned
Coordinate with all other public safety agencies within the Region. Planned
Receive local signal preemption from City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County signals. Existing
Coordinate with regional hospitals for patient care and status. Planned
Dispatch county and city public safety vehicles (and track their location) Planned
Participates in the incident response, coordination, and reporting of the Regional Communications Network in a coordination effort only (no dispatch function). Planned

Incident Management - Emergency

Dispatch City of Rio Rancho Police and Fire vehicles to incidents in the City of Rio Rancho. Planned
Coordinate maintenance resources in response to incident with the County. Planned
Coordinate an incident response with regional rail operations for incidents involving rail. Planned
Perform incident detection and verification for the streets within the county, and provide this information to the regional TMCs. Planned
Dispatch the County's sheriff vehicles (and track their location) and fire and EMS vehicles as well as coordinate with all other public safety agencies within the region. Planned
Receive emergency calls for incidents within the county. Planned
